Weathering, Erosion, and Soil Development

Weathering is the process of breaking earth materials down into smaller sediments.  Weathering "agents" include wind, water, ice, and gravity.  Factors that affect weathering include climate, surface area, and rock type,

Erosion is the process of weathered materials moving from one place to another.  Smallest material moves the farthest.

Deposition is the process of moving materials coming to a resting place.  Largest materials settle out first.  Small materials only "fall out" in still situations.
