Computer Science club will be focusing on various programming competitions and peer tutoring.

Meeting dates will likely be Tuesdays from 2:05 to 3:30. Not every Tuesday will meet, but interested Freshmen will likely need more Tuesdays to introduce the concepts of ACSL (discussed below).

We will likely be entering the following contests this year:

1) ACSL - A contest which has different levels for different years of students. 9th graders can participate in a different league as they just begin while other students can participate in a higher league. There are four contests throughout the year, with the first being in December. Participants will need to stay after for mini-lessons on the monthly topics to prepare for the ACSL contests.

2) Local Team Contests:
Virginia Tech (Probably in December)
University of Virginia (Probably in March or April)
University of Maryland (Probably in March)
Thomas Jefferson IOI (Changes each year)

These contests usually are comprised of teams of four. Generally knowledge of data structures is needed to compete, but dedicated students in APCSA can usually build a team and start practicing early and attend one of the larger contests (VT or UVA).
