Gifted Identification Update

With the closure of Prince William County Schools due to COVID-19, the timeline for gifted identification has been affected. The division-level Gifted Identification/Placement Committees will meet to review cases and make decisions regarding eligibility as soon as possible when PWCS reopens. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation evolves. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Edwards at edwardlk@pwcs.edu.

Gifted Curriculum Resources Update

To support gifted learners during this period of closure, we are providing web-sites, enrichment resources, and classroom extensions.  Instructional and resource staff expect to be available remotely during the stand work hours next week (March 23-27). More details will be provided later.

AP RESEARCH UPDATE 3/23/2020:

The 2020 AP Research assessment will include only the Academic Paper component.

The AP Digital Portfolio submission deadline for the Academic Paper will be extended to Tuesday, May 26 at 11:59 pm ET for all AP Research students. No further extensions will be granted. Students are still responsible for submitting the Academic Paper as final in the Digital Portfolio, and teachers are still responsible for reporting plagiarism.

To recap: No presentations & your paper is due 5/26/2020 by midnight.

AP SEMINAR UPDATE 3/23/2020:

The 2020 AP Seminar assessment will be revised to include only two components:

* Individual Research Report (IRR)

* Individual Written Argument (IWA)

The AP Digital Portfolio submission deadline for the IRR and IWA will be extended to Tuesday, May 26 at 11:59 pm ET for all AP Seminar students. No further extensions will be granted. Students are still responsible for submitting these items as final in the Digital Portfolio, and teachers are still responsible for reporting plagiarism.

There will be no written end-of-course exam, and the Team Multimedia Presentation and Defense (TMP) and Individual Multimedia Presentation and Oral Defense (IMP) will also not be included in the assessment.

So to recap:

1. No presentations are due & the presentation scores for PT#1 will not count.

2. Only your papers will determine your AP score. If you would like for me to unsubmit your IRR paper to polish it further, please let me know.

3. The deadline to turn in both papers is May 26, 2020 before midnight. There are no extensions for this deadline. Of course, you can turn it in earlier.

4. There will be no AP exam for this class.  Again, only your papers will determine your AP score.
