In-Person Student Attendance
Regular attendance is a critical component to face-to-face instruction. Students who are not able to attend class should check CANVAS for direction, instructional materials, and assignments and follow up with their teachers within two (2) blocks of their return to school. For our dual enrollment (DE) classes, please keep in mind that deadlines are firm
Parents should use ParentVUE to request that their student's future absence(s) be excused.
Directions for Reporting Future Absences in ParentVUE.
Here are some very important points about using ParentVUE:
- This applies to full day absences only, from the current date forward (you cannot use this to request that past absences be excused).
- Please remember to include the reason for the absence in your request—otherwise the request will not be approved.
- This does not apply to requests for early dismissals or tardies. You will need to continue to send in notes for early dismissals and tardies.
- This does not apply to absences for longer than 3 days. For absences longer than 3 days, you must continue to apply to your student's alpha administrator for permission
You are strongly encouraged to use ParentVUE instead of hard copy notes, faxes, or email to request that current full day or future full day absences be excused. Using ParentVUE will help expedite your student’s attendance to update quickly and help reduce those attendance office-generated text alerts.
- To request that past absences be excused, parents should email the BFHS Attendance Office at [email protected] The request must contain the student’s name, reason for absence and dates, as well as the contact telephone numbers. This request must be received within five (5) days of the absence. Please reference the word ABSENCE in the subject line of your email message.
- Early Dismissal: If a student needs to leave early, the parent/guardian emails the BFHS Attendance Office at [email protected] at least an hour in advance of the requested time of departure. The request must include the full name of the student, reason for leaving and time of requested dismissal. Please reference the phrase EARLY DISMISSAL in the subject line of your email message.
- Tardy: If a student arrives prior to the end of first block, they are to report directly to class. If the student arrives after 1st block, they are to report to the Front Office to sign in. For the tardy to be excused, the parent/guardian should email the BFHS Attendance Office at [email protected]Please reference the word TARDY in the subject line of your email message.
