📆Gifted Services Starting Timeline for 2021-2022:
  • Week of September 13: The permission for high school services form were delivered to those students who have not submitted a form already and for the 9th grade students. The form is due by September 30.  If you have not received  your permission form, please check with your first period teacher or with the Gifted Office room 2135.
  • Month of September: A Canvas course will appear on the student's Canvas dashboard. This is not a course that the student has to attend. It will be the place where we post Gifted program announcements, information about Governor's School, and the pull-out seminar dates and topics. An independent study module will also appear in this course; this is where you will submit your independent study contract and upload your end product (only if you chose independent study for your service option).
  • Week of Sept. 27: Services will begin.  See the Canvas module for pull-out seminar start times and topics.
Gifted Education Mission Statement:

In Prince William County Public Schools, our vision centers on the concept that “all students will learn to their fullest potential.” Our School Division philosophy of gifted education reflects this vision. •    Cohort taught Gifted sections through English and Science classes during the 9th and 10th grades.
•    Pull-out Socratic seminars, which are open-ended, interdisciplinary discussions emphasizing
critical thinking, problem solving, communication and metacognitive skills.
•    The  GEMS 12(Gifted Educational Multidisciplinary Studies with Research) course
offered during the 12th grade, which focuses on the introduction of philosophy.
•  Independent study

Gifted students also have the opportunity to apply for the Residential Governor’s Schools and the Governor’s School at
