Group Announcements

We are moving general meetings to the school day, using flexes once a month (except December). We will rotate through the various Flex combinations (schedule below-excepting weather related changes).

Each meeting will be in the Auditorium and may consume both flexes. Members who have turned in forms should plan on attending. Those members will sit in the front/middle and will be the only students allowed to participate in resolution consideration (debate and voting). In the second semester only members with 10+ points will be able to debate and vote. Non-SCA members may get a pass, attend and observe-and they may participate in the forum portion of the meeting. After school meetings will be for task/committee specific purposes (examples include working on the bulletin board, setting up for an event or a committee meeting-like spirit). Some of you have signed up for specific committees and that is fine, but you can always show up to any task/meeting, sign in and earn points.

The meeting format

Part I-Information session: Officer reports and schedule announcements

Part II- resolution session: decision making based on consideration of prepared resolutions (Examples: making a statement about school policies on behalf of the student body, deciding on spirit days, changing SCA procedures, etc.) RESOLUTION DRAFT TEMPLATE ATTACHED

Part III: president’s Forum-members and students get to ask questions of the 5 presidents, class presidents get to make class specific announcements and time permitting classes can have class meetings (The April Meeting will have a candidate forum, where the student body can question candidates for ‘20-‘21 positions (Perhaps just SCA, maybe all if time permits))

Current Planned dates

  • November 22-Flexes 1 and 2 (sample Agenda and possible resolution attached)

    Jan 21- Flexes 3/6-canceled

    Feb 20- Flexes 1 and 2

    Mar 23- Flexes 4 and 7

Apr 23- Flexes 3/6 -shortened meeting, with candidate forum

Post testing TBD-for undergrads and new officers only

Meeting Dates:

All meetings begin at 2:15 p.m. in room 1135 unless otherwise noted
