Student Preliminary Course Requests will be made thru each student's StudentVUE account. This capability is not available through ParentVUE accounts.
The window for students to complete this process is between Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Follow the steps outlined in the following PDF file and video walk-through:
The school counselors will begin meeting individually with each student in mid-February to finalize course selections for next year. Rising seniors will be registered through US/VA History classes. Rising juniors and rising sophomores will be registered through English classes.
Course request verifications will be uploaded to ParentVUE in late April. Teachers will revisit recommendations with the student, parent/guardian, and counselor in April and make adjustments if necessary. All course requests must be finalized by Monday, May 18, 2026.
Q: Why can't I delete a recommendation made by a teacher or administrator?
A: In an effort to provide all students with the opportunity to be academically successful, we use teacher recommendations to assist with student placement. These recommendations are based on current student performance and future student potential. It is important that the student, parent, and counselor know what the recommended courses are for each student. If you want to take a course other than that which was recommended, you may add it as a separate request. You can then discuss which of the options is best when you meet with your counselor.
Q: If a teacher did not recommend me for a course, can I still request it?
A: Yes, but you are strongly recommended to discuss with your teacher why you were not recommended for a course. Parent/guardian overrides of teacher recommendations will be a point of discussion when you meet with your counselor.
Q: My teacher recommended me for a course that is at a different level than the one I expected. What should I do?
A: You can make a separate request for the course you do want. You are strongly encouraged to discuss the situation with that teacher so that you understand why you were recommended for a particular course.
Q: I do not understand my options for a course or subject. What should I do?
A: Have a discussion with your teacher.
Q: I do not have strong feelings about what I take for a course or subject. What should I do?
A: You are encouraged to discuss the situation with your parent/guardian, teacher, and counselor. Seriously consider their input in light of your diploma requirements, post-secondary plans, and career goals.
Q: I do not see the course I want to take listed.
A: It is possible that a course you are looking for is not offered at Battlefield. Please refer to the BHS Course Offering Sheet for 2026-27.
