Seniors - Apply for VDOE Diploma Seals

Students meeting specific requirements for graduation and demonstrating exemplary performance may receive diploma seals for recognition.

Qualification for three of those seals, the "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Seal", the "Seal for Excellence in Civics Education", and the "Seal for Excellence in Science and the Environment" are determined, in part, by documentation of:

  • 50 hours of participation in work-based learning opportunities in a STEM area in grades 9-12 (for the STEM seal),
  • 50 hours of participation in community service or extra-curricular activities with a civics focus in grades 9-12 (for the Civics seal), and
  • 50 hours of voluntary participation in community service or extracurricular activities in grades 9-12 that involve the application of science such as environmental monitoring, protection, management, or restoration (for the Science & The Environment seal).

Review the criteria for the STEM SealCivics Seal, and Science & The Environment Seal.  If you believe you meet the specific criteria for one or more of these seals, please complete the surveys embedded in those links by 11:59pm on Wednesday, May 15th.

You must be logged into your PWCS Office365 account to access these surveys.  These surveys will stop accepting responses at 11:59pm on May 15th.  Late submissions will not be accepted.

Final determination regarding the awarding of all diploma seals will be made in late May.

The criteria for all diploma seals are posted on the VDOE website.
