Attendance Reporting

Use ParentVUE to Excuse a Student Absence

Directions for Reporting Current Day or Future Absences in ParentVUE.

Here are some very important points about using ParentVUE:

  • Using ParentVUE will help expedite your student's attendance to update quickly and help reduce those office-generated attendance text alerts.
  • This applies to full day absences only, from the current date forward (you cannot use this to request that past absences be excused).
  • Please remember to include the student’s full name, the reason for the absence, and the dates that need to be excused in your request – otherwise the request cannot be approved.
  • This does not apply to requests for early dismissals or tardies. You will need to email [email protected] for early dismissals and tardies.
  • This does not apply to absences for longer than three days. For absences longer than three days, a doctor’s note or other documentation will be needed. *

*Administration can no longer excuse absences for reasons outside of those officially listed in the attendance regulation.

Reporting Attendance

  • Absences:
To request that past absences be excused, parents should email the BFHS Attendance Office at [email protected]. The request must contain the student's name, reason for absence and dates, as well as the contact telephone numbers. This request must be received within five days of the absence. Please reference the word ABSENCE in the subject line of your email message.*

  • Early Dismissal:
If a student needs to leave early, the parent should email the Attendance Office at [email protected]. Requests for early dismissals must be submitted and approved in advance of when the student exits the building. Requests must include the full legal name of the student, reason for leaving early, and the time of the requested dismissal. Please reference the phrase "Early Dismissal" in the subject line of the email message.

  • Excused Tardy Procedure:
If your student arrives late to school due to an excused reason, please follow these steps to ensure the tardy is properly documented:

    1. Student Check-In
Upon arrival, the student should report directly to the Tardy Kiosk in the front lobby to sign in and then proceed to class.

    2. Parent/Guardian Notification
A parent or guardian must email the BFHS Attendance Office at [email protected]

    3. Subject Line Requirement
Include the word "Tardy" in the subject line of your email

    4. Required Information in Email
      Please include the following details:
            - Student's full name
            - Date and time of arrival
            - Reason for the tardy
            - Parent/guardian name and contact information

PWCS Regulation 724-1, "Attendance, Absences, Excuses and Tardies"

Regular attendance is a critical component to face-to-face instruction. Students who are not able to attend class should check CANVAS for direction, instructional materials, and assignments and follow up with their teachers within two blocks of their return to school. For our dual enrollment classes, please keep in mind that deadlines are firm.
