Each Battlefield student meets with their counselor individually to have a holistic conversation about the student's personal interests, goals, balance, and wellness. This is a collaborative process that takes place over the entire course of the second semester of school.

Choosing the "best fit" course for you at this point in your academic journey.
Consider balance in your schedule:
Which is considered the "hardest" to colleges? Which is the "best" for college applications?
How do these transfer to the colleges?

NVCC Dual Enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to take college coursework from our local community college and earn college credit (to be reviewed/awarded at the institutional level).
Students are encouraged to research the institutions they are interested in to review DE course equivalences at the college level.
College credit is awarded by the institution evaluating the Northern Virginia Community College transcript. Thus, seniors should request their college transcript from NOVA at the completion of their final semester of their DE course. This request is done directly through NOVA.
Governor's Early College Scholars Program
The Governor's Early College Scholars Program is intended to encourage eligible high school students to complete requirements for a high school diploma and concurrently earn at least 15 hours of transferable credits toward a college degree. This program can potentially result in a more productive senior year and reduce the amount of college tuition for families. Students earning a college degree in seven semesters instead of eight can save an average of $5,000 in college expenses.
The Governor's Early College Scholars Program agreement may be signed at any time, from ninth to twelfth grade. Participants agree to: (1) earn an Advanced Studies diploma with a Governor's Seal and (2) earn at least 15 transferable college credits while enrolled in high school. Interested students can download the Early College Scholars Agreement or pick one up in the Counseling Center. Completed forms should be returned to the Counseling Center.
AP Potential is connected to student performance on the PSAT through College Board. AP Potential is designed to help students increase access to AP and to ensure that no student who has the chance of succeeding in AP is overlooked.
Log into your College Board account to access your PSAT scores and review your AP Potential. This is great information to assist students, educators, and counselors. Begin the conversation with your current teacher in early January to discuss recommendations for the coming school year.
Teachers will submit course recommendations after speaking with their students by mid January.
Once this information is submitted, it will be uploaded to ParentVUE/StudentVUE for students and families to review and continue their academic plan discussion at home prior to course selection/academic advising with their counselor.
Directions for students to review course recommendations and enter preliminary course requests in their StudentVUE accounts for the following school year, along with other important documents and links, will be posted on the Battlefield website for review.
