Battlefield High School Mission Statement

At Battlefield High School, we believe that student learning is the highest priority and all students can learn to their fullest potential. Students will develop their individual talents, critical thinking and technology skills by being actively engaged in the learning process. Continuous commitment to improvement ensures that our students are well-rounded, self-directed, lifelong learners. By maintaining a safe and optimum learning environment, we provide the opportunity for students to be successful learners. Promoting high standards and expectations, our teachers, administrators, parents and the community share the responsibility for advancing the school’s mission. School Counseling Department Mission Statement

The Professional School Counselors at Battlefield High School create and support a student-centered, culturally inclusive learning environment. Counselors ensure that all students are provided with tools to cultivate personal success, expand their potential, and become well-rounded, responsible citizens who contribute to their community. Counselors meet the needs of each student, with equity, by providing academic, personal/social, and career counseling while fostering supportive partnerships with parents, faculty, and community members.

As an integral part of the educational experience, the Battlefield High School comprehensive school counseling program will nurture every student’s personal journey. Professional School Counselors will meet individual student needs to ensure equitable access to high-quality opportunities through effective collaboration with key stakeholders. Our students will demonstrate resiliency, cultural awareness, and integrity as they expand their potential and contribute to their school and community while advocating for themselves and others. The diverse student population will thrive in a rigorous academic environment, becoming responsible citizens, productive workers, and lifelong learners who are well-equipped to meet the evolving challenges of a 21st century global society.

The professional school counselors at Battlefield High School believe:

• All students have the capacity to thrive academically and personally and to expand their potential, defining and meeting their respective goals.
• Diversity is to be respected and appreciated as we foster unity among our students, faculty, staff, and community through effective collaboration, communication, and service.
• All students have equal access to a comprehensive school counseling program which serves as an integral component of the educational experience by teaching students skills to be lifelong learners and responsible, productive citizens.
• Counselors serve all students by supporting the whole person through planning developmentally appropriate activities and services, defining, managing, delivering, and assessing data-driven educational programs that foster academic, social, and career development.
• All students have value, and as such, we preserve dignity and promote the growth and success of all students without bias.
• Each Professional School Counselor abides by the American School Counseling Association’s professional school counseling ethical and professional standards to provide appropriate service for the safety and success of all students.
• Counselors are school leaders; advocating for all students by collaborating with key stakeholders is critical to remove barriers to student learning by closing achievement and opportunity gaps and promoting the achievement of students’ academic, personal/social, and career goals.
• Counselors will continue to develop their skills and assist in enhancing the comprehensive school counseling program through professional development activities at the local, state, and national level.
